Portage Dems Pass Vote of No Confidence in Sheriff

RAVENNA, OH | On Wednesday, September 9th, the Portage County Democratic Party overwhelmingly supported a vote of no confidence against Portage County Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski.

The Democratic Central Committee did not reach this decision lightly. It considered both the recent conduct of the Sheriff at the Portage County Randolph Fair, as well as previous statements made by the Sheriff, and what we believe to be ongoing conduct unbecoming of an elected official.

We believe that the Chief Law Enforcement Officer for the County must maintain the trust of the public, should be available to answer questions of the public - whether they agree with them or not - and must also be prepared to execute their duties impartially. We do not believe Bruce Zuchowski, through his words and actions, is capable of this, and do hereby call for his immediate resignation. 

In addition to the vote of no confidence, the Portage County Democratic Party calls upon the elected officials representing our Cities and Townships to entertain their own votes of no confidence and encourage vigorous public comment and participation in those considerations.
